Church and Office Assistance
Office Helpers
Many parishioners volunteer time and talent to assist with parish mailings and
with other more specific office tasks.
Sacristan
A very significant job in our parish is accomplished almost entirely out of
sight. All one sees of the job of the Sacristan is altar cloths neat and clean,
candles properly tended, votive lights constantly refilled, sanctuary lamp
renewed every seven days, vestments laid out, chalices and ciboria prepared,
vestments repaired, weddings and wedding couples attended to, wine and candles
ordered, special celebrations for funerals, First Communion, Confirmations,
Christmas, Easter properly prepared. All of these special tasks are prepared by
the sacristan.
Church Linens
Volunteers serve in a special ministry of laundering our church linens, such as
altar cloths, purificators and so on.
Music Ministry
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir sings every other Sunday at 10:00 Mass from September through
May, and for special liturgical events and celebrations. Practice is help every
Thursday from 7-8 p.m. The choir welcomes anyone high school age or older who
loves to sing. For more information contact Pauline Connell, 782-2953, ext 3.
Cantors
Our talented volunteer parish cantors help to lead us in prayer and song. They
are a generous and dedicated group of musicians who give of their time to
minister in this special way. To volunteer and receive training to be a cantor,
contact Pauline Connell.
Instrumentalists
Anyone who plays an instrument and wishes to help enhance our liturgies should
contact Pauline Connell.
8:00 Choir
This choir sings every week at the 8:00 Mass. All people of every age who
enjoy singing are invited to join us. Come 10 minutes early to get organized.
Parish Children's Choir
Our Youngsters need the opportunity to be leaders of song at Mass, so we have a
standing children's choir. Practices are held every other Saturday, and the
choir sings at 10:00 Mass the day after. Pauline Connell directs this choir and
Jennifer Kulzer is accompanist and assistant.
St. Cecilia Funeral Choir
The parish's St. Cecilia Choir performs many valuable service to the parish
family by singing at funeral liturgies and an occasional Sunday Mass. Visitors
at Blessed Sacrament are impressed and laudatory of this choir. It is perfect
for people who enjoy singing but cannot meet the demands of a regular practice
of performance schedule.
